Danish artist Sissel Morrell Dargis, based in Brazil, infiltrates a secret and illegal community: the baloeiros. These men, organized in teams, devote themselves to crafting giant colorful paper balloons for the sheer purpose and pleasure of seeing them fly. The filmmaker takes us into the underworld of these groups, pursued by the police, using the codes of a thriller to reveal how she earned their trust — and a friendship that would last a lifetime.
